On a private jet over the Atlantic, CIA director William Cabot, played by Morgan Freeman, briefs his young analyst across an open laptop. The analyst is Jack Ryan, and Ben Affleck plays him in Phil Alden Robinson's The Sum of All Fears (2002), a film that resets the franchise clock and catches Tom Clancy's hero at the start of his career, a Langley desk analyst pulled into the field to help head off a nuclear war between Washington and Moscow.
On Ryan's wrist is a round watch on a brushed metal bracelet, a dark case around a light dial. It appears to be a Breitling Aerospace, the lightweight titanium quartz that Breitling introduced in 1985. The Aerospace pairs analog hands with two small digital windows in an ana-digi layout, and it sits in the brand's Professional line of tool watches rather than among its dress pieces. The watch never turns far enough toward the camera to read the dial, so the identification stays a best guess.
