Red Heat (1988) was Walter Hill's fish-out-of-water cop movie: hand Arnold Schwarzenegger a Soviet militsiya badge and drop him into Chicago. He plays Captain Ivan Danko, chasing Viktor Rostavili, the Georgian drug kingpin who gunned down his partner in Moscow and ran for the States. This frame comes from the cheap-hotel ambush, where Rostavili's Cleanheads jump Danko half-dressed in his room and he answers with a .44 Magnum.
His hands come up, and there it is on his wrist - a round-cased watch on a dark strap, buckled tight. So what is it? I can't say, and I won't guess. At this distance, in this murky light, there's no maker and no model to read, only the clear outline of a watch on Schwarzenegger's wrist as the room goes loud.
For now that's all the frame gives up: a real watch, plainly worn through the firefight, still waiting on a name.
