Anne Hathaway wears a Cartier Tank

Nancy Meyers' The Intern (2015) sets up a generational odd couple. Anne Hathaway plays Jules Ostin, who runs a fast-growing Brooklyn fashion-commerce startup out of a converted warehouse, and Robert De Niro is Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who joins the company through a senior-intern program. Meyers dresses the two eras against each other, De Niro in tailored suits with a briefcase, Hathaway in sharp dresses, moving fast through an open-plan office.

On Hathaway's wrist is a Cartier Tank. You can see it in the office scenes, a small rectangular gold case with a white dial on a black leather strap, Cartier's signature dress watch. Louis Cartier designed the Tank in 1917, its straight sides said to echo the tracks of the First World War Renault tanks. Watch-spotters identify Jules's specifically as a Tank Solo, the entry point to the Tank line.
