Bob le Flambeur is Jean-Pierre Melville's 1956 study of an aging Montmartre gambler who pulls a crew together to rob the casino at Deauville. In the dark hours before the job, parked on the coast, the men check the time before splitting into separate cars, Roger taking the suitcase as they go. The watch on Roger's wrist is a rectangular, tank-style case with a pale dial and a small seconds register, on a dark strap. The film is black and white and the dial carries no readable maker, so the watch stays unidentified, a typical mid-1950s rectangular dress watch. The frame is kept here as evidence for anyone able to narrow it down.
