Alan Tudyk wears an unidentified watch

The frame is dark and underlit, a hand raised near a face washed in red light, and the watch on the wrist is a smear no dial survives. The wrist belongs to Dutch, played by Alan Tudyk in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the assistant to Seymour Simmons and the film's quietest oddity: a former intelligence operative who follows his boss's every order, types like a man defusing a bomb, and slips now and then into the German of an old cover.

Dutch is the research department in Michael Bay's 2011 third film, the one who hacks and digs while Simmons blusters, helping trace the Decepticon plot to a Cybertronian ship hidden on the moon. Tudyk plays him deadpan against John Turturro's noise, comic relief tucked into the margins of a movie about a city coming down.

No part of the watch reads in the shot, lit and angled so that not even the case shape is sure, and it stays unidentified. Tudyk would go on to voice a long line of screen robots and droids, from Sonny to K-2SO, but here he is the human in the corner of the frame, doing the careful work while the machines fight over his head.
