In 2011 Curtis Jackson, the rapper better known as 50 Cent, produced a small crime picture called Setup and cast himself as Sonny, a Detroit thief who survives a betrayal during a heist and goes hunting for the men who left him for dead. Mike Gunther directed, and the cast around Jackson ran deeper than the budget suggested: Bruce Willis turns up as a mob boss in an extended cameo, with Ryan Phillippe, Jenna Dewan, Randy Couture and James Remar filling out the underworld. The film went straight to home video, where most of Jackson's producer-and-star vehicles from this period landed.

On Sonny's wrist is a Hublot Big Bang, the loud fusion-material chronograph Jean-Claude Biver launched in 2005 to drag a sleepy brand back into the conversation. Which Big Bang it is stays an open question, since the watch never sits in frame long enough to read a reference. It is a believable piece for the man wearing it, if not obviously for the character. Jackson is a documented collector with a taste for the conspicuous end of the market, Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks and Richard Mille and the like, and a Hublot on his wrist reads less like a Detroit stick-up artist's choice than like the actor's own.
